In a relief to lakhs of residents in village areas, the Delhi Government is bringing a proposal to regularise extension of ‘village abadi’ in the left out 165 villages under the revised guidelines 2007 related to unauthorised colonies. The proposal was put up before the Cabinet meeting on Monday. However, the decision is expected to be announced at a farmers’ rally to be held at Talkatora stadium on May 15.
After the Cabinet approval, the Delhi Government will send the proposal to Ministry of Urban Development for approval. Sources in the Government told The Pioneer that the proposal would again be brought before the next Cabinet meeting which is likely to be held on Saturday. Congress leader Sajjan Kumar is going to organise a farmers’ rally at Talkatora on Saturday.
If the proposal was approved, the areas around these villages would get the same benefits as that of the main village. The advisory group on review of Master Plan-2021 recommended use of the term ‘extended lal Dora’ to include lal Dora areas beyond abadi in the village boundaries.
lal Dora refers to the part of village land that falls under abadi. The term applies to 362 rural and urban villages and includes areas like Basant Gaon, Munirka, Yusuf Sarai, Mehrauli, lado Sarai, Shahpur Jat, Rawta, Salharpur, Radhopur, Shikarpur, Surhera, Rajapur Khurd, Tilang Pur Kotla, Shafiqpur Ranhola, Ujwa, Khampur, Poshangipur, Asalatpur, Rangpuri, Kusumpur, Basai Darapur, Keshopur, Sherpur Dairy, Rewla Khampur, Meethapur, Fatehpuri, Jasola and Mahipalpur.
Delhi NCP leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri welcomed the Government move to extend ‘village abadi’ in the left out 165 villages in Delhi. “This would be a great relief to the people of village abadi. The move will further help the Sheila Dikshit Government in the Assembly elections,” Bidhuri said, adding his party has been demanding this for the past several years to grant relief to people of villages.
“All the villages would also soon be made free of the constant fear of being issued notices under Rule 81 of the land Acquisition Act,” said the sources.
The Delhi Government had in September 2012 approved the regularisation of 895 unauthorised colonies. While the lieutenant-Governor had approved the same, the notification process is yet to be completed. At that time the Government had allowed sale and purchase in 312 colonies existed on private land or private khasra.
