Dharmendra Singh, a 2006 batch IPS officer, took charge as Senior Superintendent Police of Gautam Budh Nagar district on Wednesday. Singh stressed on police reforms and improving law and order situation in the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida.

The SSP said his aim is to improve policing in the district in order to control crime. “My first objective is to increase police visibility in the district. Police officials will have to register all the complaints and address them properly at police stations. Special teams will be assigned to investigate serious crimes,” the  SSP added.

“Curbing crime against women, college students and senior citizens will be a priority. Action will be taken and all criminals will be put behind the bar,” SSP further said.

He added that he has worked in Ghaziabad previously and the geographical locations and nature of crime are similar in the two cities.

Singh also said he would conduct inspections to have an audit of all police stations and their staff this week. The police officials who don’t have good track record will face departmental action, he said.

“The files of officials, who are already facing departmental enquiry, will be investigated afresh,” he said.

Singh added that he has identified some sensitive areas in the district. “We will conduct a week-long training of police officials who will be able to quickly respond to calls in these areas. This will be operational from next week,” he said. Singh said he has decided to work from Surajpur office in Greater Noida.

When asked about the forensic lab report in Akhlaq lynching case which revealed the meat sample belongs to beef (cow), he said, “The matter is sub-judice and probe is on. The case is being heard in a fast track court in Surajpur. However, if a person feels unfairly treated in the probe, they can approach the district police.”
