The ongoing investigation by the Delhi Police Crime Branch into Delhi University admission racket has revealed that those involved in the racket used to take away the forged documents secretly from the files once it was cleared by the higher authorities. For this, they used to take the help of the staff members of the college. On Monday, a team also visited the Kirorimal and Hindu Colleges and collected the evidence related with the case. Four more admissions in Delhi University colleges have been found to be forged.

A team of Crime Branch visited the Kirorimal College at 11 am and seized some documents related with the admission done by the accused persons. The sleuths confronted Sunil Panwar, one of the prime accused in the racket, with some staff members as well. Police however, did not disclose the name of staff members but they said the persons are on their radar.

They also took Sunil to Hindu College in the noon and questioned some staff members. Senior officers told The Pioneer that none of the senior members have been questioned, as of now, but they have been served notices in connection with the cases. Several admissions have been found to be forged in Hindu and Kirorimal College.

So far investigations revealed that they (the accused persons) used to take away the documents from the files once they were cleared by the DU admission staff members. In some cases, it was found that they submitted forged OBS/SC/ST certificates and once the student got admission, they later take out that forged document from the file, secretly. “For this they would take help of the lower staff members from the colleges and pay some money,” said a source.

The Delhi Police has detected four more admissions that have been found to be forged. With this, the number of forged admissions has gone upto 30. On July 29, the Crime Branch had arrested four people-including a student identified as Mohammad Juber from Sri Aurobindo College. The other three arrested accused were Sunil Panwar, Praveen Jha and Ranchit Khurana. Police had also recovered stamps, fake certificates and letter heads of various colleges from their possession.

The syndicate was operating in many DU colleges like Hindu, Kirorimal, Aurobindo, Dayal Singh, Ram lal Anand, DAV, Bhagat Singh and Kamla Nehru. The documents and papers seized by the police are being examined and further raids are being conducted to catch suspected persons involved into the case.
