Launching an all out attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for attack on him inside the Delhi Government Secretariat building, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday asked the Prime Minister to step down if he cannot ensure his safety.
Kejriwal’s response came while he was speaking in the Delhi Assembly during the one day special session, days after a man flung chilli powder at him inside the Delhi secretariat.
Kejriwal accused that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was behind the November 20 attack as it was totally out of its wits by the "good work" done by his Government in the national Capital.
"Narendra Modi should resign if he can not protect Delhi's Chief Minister," Kejriwal said in the house which had met to discuss the attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and the alleged deletion of names from the voters' list.
Kejriwal also demanded workable arrangements from Delhi Police to ensure safety and security of AAP legislatures and the and the general public.
Turning down AAP MLA Nitin Tyagi’s demand to exclude Delhi Police from the ambit of the Rs 1 crore compensation scheme, Kejriwal said, "Delhi Police is like a family and a handful of officers cannot come to define the entire force." Kejriwal also advised his party MLAs to withdraw their proposal demanding the exclusion of Delhi Police from the Government's compensation scheme.
Citing four attacks on him in past four years, Kejriwal said, " It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi not the Delhi Police who is behind the attacks on me." " Delhi Police is under BJP's pressure and they follow the instructions of Modi and BJP MPs, this is the reason the Police is reluctant to file an FIR in my case," he added.
Addressing Delhi Assembly, Kejriwal said that he wants to know the status report on the past four incidents of attacks on him.
Citing recent chilli powder and scuffle attack in secretariat premises, he said that the attack on Delhi’s CM is not on me , it is on the Delhi's public because the public elected Kejriwal."
" I was giving speech on the Inauguration Day of Signature Bridge and standing with my Cabinet Ministers..they ( BJP ) threw water bottles on us, Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari attacked our MLA. We followed it up with the Delhi Police DCP, but no FIR was registered against Tiwari," he added further.
In a obvious reference to a phone call from Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh from Madhya Pradesh after the incident outside his office, Kejriwal claimed, "I said either you are worthless or colluding".
Referring two defence deals Boffors and Rafale,Kejriwal also said that BJP Government has done four times more corruption in four years as compared to Congress in 70 years.
Kejriwal also spoke about the striking employees of the Delhi Transport Corporation and said, " We are not against DTC employees. During the process to impose ESMA (Essential Supplies Maintenance Act ) , Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot called Lieutenant Governor (L-G) four times to seek appointment but L-G had no time to meet him , however he met Kapil Mishra," Kejriwal said.
Speaking on a Government resolution to ensure the accountability of Delhi Police towards the elected city Government, Kejriwal said 95 per cent policemen were good but "they are being made to do wrong things by the BJP". "If Delhi Police comes under the elected Government of Delhi, it will start working for the good of the people," he asserted.
