After the much confusion over the delay in the process of nursery admissions in the Capital, the Directorate of Education (DoE) notified that it will now begin on January 16, one day after the originally scheduled date.
Following the direction of the Delhi High Court that deferred the hearing till Wednesday on a petition filed by unaided schools, the DoE, notified, “The process of admission and availability of admission application shall start from January 16 instead of January 15 in view of the order passed by the division bench of High Court in the matter of Action Committee of Unaided Recognised Schools.”
“It is probable that the court will dismiss the petition and the Government is confident of the order in their favour that’s why they have come out with the date. It is likely that the HC will not stay the guidelines and everything will go as per schedule,” advocate Khagesh Jha.
However, the panic-stricken parents are not ready to believe the assurances being given by any authority. “Every minute situation is changing and it is tough to believe what is being told by the Government or anybody. One day we are told something, next day something else. Our anxiety will end only when the HC passes an order on Wednesday,” said Shantanu Mehrotra, a parent.
“The DoE may have given a date but what happens if the court orders in favour of schoolsIJ It does not make any sense,” said Sumit Vohra, activist and founder of admissionsnursery.com.
