The 27-year-old serial rapist, Ravinder Kumar, used to kill minor girls by strangulating them before raping them. In one such case, which was lodged in outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala area on July 25, 2011, he strangulated a three-year-old girl to death and then sexually assaulted her. In 2014, the investigation into this case was handed over to the Crime Branch. Kumar on Thursday was sent to judicial custody for 14 days and will be lodged in Tihar’s jail number 4.
According to the Crime Branch officials, the body of the three-year-old girl was discovered from an abandoned plot near her residence in Kanjhawala area. Her mother lodged missing complaint on July 25, 2011, when she found her daughter missing from the cot. The girl was sleeping with her mother outside their house.
After Ravinder was arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl, last week, the Crime Branch officials cross-checked his involvement into the case and found that the culprit is same. Sources in the Crime Branch told The Pioneer that Kumar in this case killed the girl and then raped her. He then left the body on the spot and fled from the scene.
“He was an alcoholic and used to hunt minor children. In many of the cases, he first killed the girl and then raped them. He was a necrophiliac,” said police. Sources said the Crime Branch will soon apply for a production warrant to take the custody of Ravinder in their case. The father of the girl in this case was a plumber.
On Tuesday, The Pioneer had reported that Ravinder Kumar has no remorse for his wrongdoings. During interrogation, he did not show any sign of regret despite being quizzed for hours. The interrogators said he is singing like a canary and told them about his involvement in some new cases. Several teams of the Delhi Police were sent to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to collect evidence into the cases in which his involvements have surfaced.
Ravinder, who hails from Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, was produced before Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav where he complained that he feared for his life in the jail. Meanwhile, an unidentified man tried to slap Ravinder but the cops stopped him.
