Police scan CDR to nail gun supplier

SR

The Delhi Police is now scanning the call detail records (CDR) of Aakash Kumar, who attacked his classmate on Wednesday before killing himself, to identify the conduit who had supplied him with illegal country-made weapons. Meanwhile, police late on Wednesday recorded the statement of five eyewitnesses.

Investigators said that they are also trying to identify Aakash's friends' circle with those he was in constant touch. Identification of the person who provided the country-made weapons to Aakash is necessary as police wants to bring the arm smuggler to the book and put a clamp on this illegal route of arms supply, a police official added.

"We have taken control of the e-mail and facebook accounts of the accused and now with the help of cyber experts, we are trying to look into his psyche and unravel the mystery behind this extreme step," the officer added.

Explaining the sequence of events, investigators on Thursday said that the accused had a concrete plan and had come fully-prepared to kill her. He was carrying a country-made assembled pistol along with an axe, a packet of Rogor pesticide along with a bottle of poison and a kitchen knife.

"He was sitting in the class and during lunch break, he walked up to her and stood in front of her bench without saying anything, while Roshni (the victim) made study notes," the officer added. The complainant, Neha, told police that Aakash repeatedly attacked Roshni on her head and hands till she fell on the floor.

When some students tried to raise an alarm, he whipped out his pistol and started threatening that he would kill them if they came near him. He later consumed both, the poison and Rogor pesticide.

Based on Neha's statement, a case was registered under Sections 307, 309, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 26 Arms Act at Vasant Kunj (North) Police station of South Delhi.
