If Delhi BJP MP Meenakshi lekhi’s proposal is accepted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence address will change from 7 Race Course Road (RCR) to 7 ‘Ekatma Marg’. lekhi has moved a proposal to rename the Race Course Road as Ekatma Marg. On the other hand, AAP MlA Surinder Singh said he would oppose the proposed move and demanded that it be rechristened after a martyr.
Keeping up with the name change of several high profile roads in the national Capital, the proposal was moved on September 9 and will be taken up on September 22 during the meeting of New Delhi Municipal Council.
lekhi in her proposal argued that Race Course Road isn’t synonymous with the Indian tradition, hence should be renamed. “The renaming of RCR as Ekatma Marg will remind every Prime Minister about the last person of the society,” lekhi said in her proposal.
