Hailing the collaboration between “India and Europe to destroy terrorism”, Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar said the “pluralism” of both democracies was “under threat” from “terrorism” and forces against the “international stability”. Akbar was speaking at the European Higher Education Fair in New Delhi on Friday with participation of over 125 exhibitors, including world rank universities, Embassies and higher educational institutions from 26 EU member States. The aim of this fair is to attract students and job aspirants from India to work and study in Europe.

“India and Europe are not only the largest democracies but also share similar values and commitments not only to individuals and connected independence but also to the notion of pluralism that form the very essence of our society and civilisation. Today this pluralism is under threat from the menace of terrorism and the forces that use terrorism to threat the architecture of our international stability. The collaboration between India and Europe shows our desire to work together to destroy the terrorism from the very root,” Akbar said.

The two-day fair has would be a platform for students to interact and gather information relating to academics in the European universities. The Indian aspirants can speak to the representatives of these universities to clear doubts. The EU has a record of 50,000 Indian students enrolled in the continent.

Tomasz Kozlowski, Ambassador of the European Union, recalled the EU-India Summit in Brussels where PM Narendra Modi was present. “The EU and India have forged strong bonds of cooperation in the field of education in recent decades. The recent EU-India Summit underlined higher education as an important area of cooperation and through this fair we aim to enhance educational opportunities for Indian students”.
