Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat, the brand ambassadors of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, on Thursday launched a new campaign “lets Go Green and Blue” from the west zone to promote proper segregation of the waste and to dispose and re-use of waste through re-cycling process.
Phogat sisters expressed their commitment to promote Swachta Campaign initiative of the SDMC. They exhorted the citizens to concentrate on the segregation of their waste especially kitchen waste in order to make it suitable for re-use after re-cycling. “They also administered a pledge to the gathering including children to strictly adhere to the segregation of the waste and put in the wet waste in the green bins and dry waste in the blue bins,” said the official.
SDMC Mayor Kamaljeet Sehrawat said that our cleanliness campaign is bound to become more forceful with the presence of Phogat sisters. “The proper segregation of the waste enables re-uses of segregated waste for useful purposes including waste to energy. The SDMC is working in the direction of campaign launched by our Prime Minister Narender Modi,” she said.
Sehrawat also said that the SDMC will propagate the two kinds of bins in all localities and on the vehicles being used for the collection of the waste. The campaign launched in the west zone will also be launched in the other zones shortly.
