Do dogs mourn the loss of their ownersIJ Understanding dog’s emotions has been a mystery for veterinarians and owners and hence it is difficult to jump to any conclusion. However, there are anecdotes supporting the view that dogs do mourn the loss of their owners.
The case in point is the murder of Najafgarh’s 17-year-old girl allegedly by her male friend in parked Mercedes on Tuesday. The death of Simran has left her two-year-old pet, Tuffy, in pain, according to family members.
“Simran was a dog lover and it was only on her demand that we bought Tuffy two years ago. Since her death the dog has been roaming aimlessly around the house looking for my daughter. Tuffy has not eaten for the last 24 hours and we are really worried about his health,” said Simran’s father Anand Kumar, adding that “one should be careful while making friends.”
He said, “I was not unaware about her (Simran’s) friendship with any of those boys Shubham and Yogesh. She was a hardworking child.” After shooting the girl, Subham fled from the area with police probing the incident.
“According to Yogesh, they saw that the girl had been shot in the chest. Yogesh’s licensed pistol was lying nearby,” said officials, adding that to nab the accused the Delhi Police has sent one of the teams to Bahadurgarh as the accused could be hiding at his relative’s place. A senior police officer said police have called five of Shubham’s friends for questioning.
Surender Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-west), said, “We have formed two teams to work on the case. We will make arrests soon.” Simran became acquainted with Shubham, a son of a realtor, four months ago.
