A team of doctors at a private hospital saved the life of a 28-year-old man by performing manual Cardiopulmonary resuscitation for almost an hour.

Ajit Bhatti, was brought to the Aakash Healthcare, Dwarka with complaints of indigestion since morning. His pulse rate was normal but his heart stopped working once he lay down on the bed, the hospital said in a statement.

“The patient regained consciousness after 15 minutes through performing CPR but within minutes, he collapsed again. Doctors continued to administer CPR and electric shocks to him until he was revived after 45 minutes,” it said.

"As soon as the patient went unconscious, we started CPR. It is a life-saving procedure performed in an emergency when someone's breathing or heartbeat has stopped. In this case, we went on to do it for around 60 minutes and in the end, he regained complete consciousness,” said Dr Shaarang Sachdev, emergency, critical care, and trauma specialist, Aakash Healthcare.

Dr. Ashish Agarwal, Director of Cardiology at the hospital said “Heart attacks are commonly associated with people over the age of 50. But over the past few years, young patients with cardiovascular disease have risen. In this case, Mr. Ajit was physically active and even participated in sports activities. Despite this, he was completely unaware of his heart problems. Although there is no specific age at which you are more likely to have a heart attack. Lifestyle choices, nutrition plans, gym routines, and stress management can all affect your chances.”
