BJP puts up mighty show with star campaigner Sidhu
The concluding day of electioneering in the national Capital saw the BJP putting up a mighty show on Tuesday. While the party’s star campaigner Navjot Singh Sidhu swept the crowds with his one-liners, candidates across the seven constituencies made their final attempts to reach out to the masses.
The BJP aptly roped in flamboyant Sidhu on the final day of campaigning as he pulled out large crowds. Campaigning in five constituencies he had a massive entourage of cars and bikes where he stood on a jeep and continually waved at the people. In a brief address to a crowd gathered in South Delhi while seeking votes for Ramesh Bidhuri, Sidhu won a loud applause from the public as he said in his trademark style, “Humare paas dulha hain aur baraat bhi hain… Dusri taraf aage Manmohan Singh, aur peeche choron ki baarat hain.” Covering 150 colonies in eight hours, Bidhuri carried out a fast and furious campaign in his constituency where he even addressed over 37 jan sabhas.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP president and candidate from Chandni Chowk, Harsh Vardhan carried out an intensive series of padyatras, roadshows and public meetings. He exuded confidence of winning all seven seats and said, “Delhiites will ring in the Modi era overwhelmingly and comprehensively.” Manoj Tiwari of North East Delhi was seen walking in the narrow streets of Raghubir Nagar and Tilak Nagar with folded hands making his last appeal to woo voters.
The party’s candidate from New Delhi, Meenakshi lekhi was busy holding public meetings and interacting with people on Tuesday as she warned them of being weary of her rival from the seat, Congress’ Ajay Maken. “Residents of New Delhi are ready to overthrow Ajay Maken as they have realised how indifferent he is towards their needs. Despite being such a posh area, people still do not have water to drink. Besides, the Aam Aadmi Party was nothing but a bunch of lies. We are surely going to win this time as people want Modiji, they want development,” she said, addressing a crowd at Pillanji Village.
East Delhi candidate Maheish Girri and West Delhi’s Parvesh Verma too had Sidhu to accompany him in their final leg of campaigning. North West Delhi’s Udit Raj began his road show as early as 7 am and covered areas like Rohini, Jahangirpuri, Samaipur Chowk, Badli, Vikram Dharam Kanta, Sector 27, Rohini and Sultanpuri.
