Gearing up for the nursery admissions in private schools, scheduled to begin from January 1, the Directorate of Education has prepared the common admission schedule for all schools which will be released on its website within a couple of days.

Admissions will start from January 1 with the sale of forms and parents will be given 15 days for form submission. By January 20, schools will have to start displaying their lists of selected children, all categories included, along with the waiting list. Admission will close on March 30.

The dates for admission will be decided by the DoE and not by the schools. As per the directions of DoE, every school will have to display the admission procedure and criteria on its website and the notice board.

Registrations will take place only on the dates declared by the DoE and will not be closed or opened beyond that time frame.

In a bid to facilitate parents facing trouble during admissions, the DoE has also made sure that the complaints of parents against schools are addressed in the best possible way through their websites of the Directorate which will be acted upon by the Education Officers seriously.

“Since there is no new procedural change, we expect to release the notification for nursery admissions within two-three days,” Amit Singla, Director, Directorate of Education, said.

Each school will have 25 per cent seats reserved for students belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category for which common application forms will be released by the DoE and it will be mandatory for all schools. The forms can also be downloaded from the website of DoE, besides the schools.
