A pall of gloom fell on the family of Ishrat on Friday. While her mother lay unconscious, overcome by the grief of losing her youngest daughter, family members lamented that it was the second death in the family within past one week.
Nazrana Khatun, aunt of Ishrat said,” Ishra’ts father has gone to Begusarai (in Bihar) for the funeral of his sister in law. Alas! He won’t see his daughter’s face for the last time,” On Friday morning, while heading to their school, Ishrat (12) died while her 14-year-old brother Nishat sustained life threatening injuries. Both the children study in class VI of the SDMC primary school.
“Ishrat was such an intelligent girl that her school gave her an out of turn promotion. While our daughter was a bright child, her brother was just an average with studies. She used to always say that she wanted to become a teacher,” added Khatun.
Survived by a father, who works as a tailor, a mother and another brother, who is just seven years old, the family migrated to Delhi from Begusarau in Bihar to lead a better life.
