The man who measures your land and keeps its records is in short supply in Delhi. Of 230 sanctioned Patwari posts in the Revenue Department, only 60 are filled. On Monday, the Delhi Government said LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu has approved changes to the recruitment rules to bring in more people.

The note says the shortage has severely affected the department's functioning. The number of Patwari posts has gone up from 218 to 230. The increase comes from the creation of 12 posts for the newly created districts of the Revenue Department earlier this year.

The last recruitment process run by the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) produced no candidates who met the mandatory educational qualification. That qualification was a one-year computer diploma from a Government-recognised institution.
