A 32-year-old lost his life after his car rammed into a stationary Mahindra pickup in South-West Delhi’s Delhi Cantt area on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Kamal (32), a resident of Gurgaon. He was employed in a private firm at Gurgaon.
According to the police, the incident took place around 4.24 am when the Santro car in which Sandeep Kamal, along with his two other friends identified as Manish and Varun, was heading back home. The car passed the RTR flyover and was headed towards the ‘T’ point when it swerved. Sandeep, behind the wheels, failed to notice a pickup van parked there; it reportedly had a punctured tyre. The impact was such that thick smoke started billowing from the bonnet of the car. By the time those in the car were extricated, the car caught fire and it took some time for the fire tenders to douse it. Passersby rushed to their rescue and took them out. They were immediately taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre where Sandeep was pronounced dead on arrival while the other two occupants are stated to be critical.
