Retiring at a time when a lot of criticism is being thrown at him, BS Bassi, in his farewell speech, said, “I never try to bother about the way things are happening. I can’t choose what is going to happen but I can choose how to handle it. If things are not easy I may have to think of things which are out of box. I always believe that you can’t predict life. I enjoy life; even the last few days have been fun for me.”
Hours before handing over charge to Alok Kumar Verma, outgoing Delhi Police Commissioner Bassi on Monday took an apparent dig at the AAP Government, saying the Delhi Police’s autonomy is “sacrosanct” and those who have questioned it should be made to look at history.
“The Delhi Police’s functional autonomy is sacrosanct. Those who have raised questions regarding the Delhi Police’s autonomy, should be taken back in time and made to look into history,” Bassi said at his farewell parade in New Police lines.
