App-based cab operator Ola added 6,000 new CNG cars to its platform of cars during the recently concluded Ola Pragati Mahotsav — the largest CNG Driver mela in Delhi-NCR. Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra flagged off the first batch of cars registered under the programme on Wednesday.
The Company plans to invest Rs200 crore to enable CNG adoption in Delhi NCR over the next six months. Ola’s current CNG fleet in Delhi NCR stands at over 26,000 cabs.
Handing over keys to the first CNG car owners from the Pragati Mahotsav, Kapil Mishra said, “Transportation is important for citizens as well as for tourism in the State and a world class experience can be built only by such investment in skilling, training and entrepreneurship for drivers who are the service providers. By bringing together various partners in the ecosystem under one roof through its ‘Pragati Mahotsav’ event, Ola is positively impacting the livelihoods of many thousands of drivers, so that they can continue to work as entrepreneurs.”
Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Maroli, vice president of Strategic Supply Initiatives at Ola, said, “We are committed to providing a seamless mobility experience in the state in adherence to the local regulations, at the same time empowering our driver-partners by helping them switch to CNG with no negative impact on their earnings. Going forward, we plan to invest Rs200 crore towards innovative green fuel technology, leasing of CNG cars as well as strengthening the ecosystem to catalyse greater CNG adoption in the region.”
