A 52-year-old NRI woman has been arrested from South Delhi’s Greater Kailash II M-Block market for stealing three expensive Pashmina shawls worth Rs 54,000 from a showroom here. The owner of the showroom lodged a complaint with police on November 14.

After registering the case, investigators collected CCTV footage of the showroom and in the video a woman was seen shoplifting the shawls on November 12 and 13. She was later arrested from her brother’s residence at C-Block.

Police said the accused has been identified as Neetu Talwar. Her husband and children are based in the US and she had come to India to visit her brother. “The arrest was made on Sunday from her brother’s house in Greater Kailash area following the complaint of the shopowner,” the officer added.

“In the footage, the accused woman could be seen shoplifting. On Tuesday, she lifted two shawls and then visited the showroom again on Wednesday to steal another. She would just wear the shawl and leave the showroom,” said a police official.

During investigation, police received information that the accused was again seen in Greater Kailash area near the store and acting on this information, the woman was arrested.
