The Transport Department of Delhi Government has tightened its noose around the private agency that is responsible for affixing High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) in the Capital.
With complaints of delay in affixing the HSRPs, the transport department has decided that HSRP vendor will intimate the vehicle owners about the date of affixation of HSRP in writing by putting a stamp on the fee receipt. The vendor has to ensure affixation on the date given to the owner.
The decision was taken on Tuesday in a meeting chaired by the Delhi transport commissioner to discuss the issues related to installation of High Security Registration Plates on commercial vehicles registered before April 30, 2012.
As per the decision, the vendor will operate a separate counter for the corporate operators having at least 10 vehicles or more in their name. “It was also decided that in case of DTC and cluster bus HSRP shall be affixed at the depots to avoid congestion and crowding at Burari Fitness Centre. All vehicle owners will be requested to deposit fee for HSRP plates at least seven to 10 days in advance from the date of expiry of fitness so that plates will be ready on the day of fitness test for installation,” said a senior transport official.
According to the transport department, the private agency will be directed to increase their capacity of making number plates. They will be directed to establish a separate unit for commercial vehicles.
