Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday inaugurated country’s first online portal for e-filing of consumer complaints amidst coronavirus Covid -19 pandemic.

With this online platform, people of Delhi need not go out to register their grievances and can file their complaint sitting at home with virtual system network.

Terming it as world’s best platform, Kejriwal said "The Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DSCDRC) has decided to launch the e-Filing portal for the convenience of the consumers, especially in these challenging times of Corona encouraging people to stay indoors. “This will prove to be an essential step towards supporting its efforts. “Delhi is the first state to have launched the e-filing system and this will show a direction to the other states as well as the entire country, who will also learn from Delhi and move towards a similar direction,” Kejriwal said.

Illustrating more on this project, Delhi government officials associated with the project said the software has been developed by National Informatic Centre (NIC) in coordination with the State Bank of India, which is providing payment gateway for payment of fees  for filing consumer complaint.

With this virtual system, now filing of the complaint from their home is feasible with the newly launched application. “ A user may be a complainant or an advocate can file a complaint online at his/her ease at any time. No more visits to the consumer forum are required,” officer said.

Adding further, he explained that through this system, the consumer can file their cases not only in Delhi State Consumer Commission but also in the District Consumer Commissions. “All the consumer fora will stand connected through e-filing system. Proper infrastructure and experienced staff is the prime requirement for the system. It will expedite the hearing of the cases and will help to reduce pendency.”

This e-filing system is transparent and hassle free, accessible 24X7, Environment friendly and cost effective. It facilitates digital payment, digitization of documents and easy tracking of applications, the official said.

Meanwhile Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain said, "I want to congratulate the State Commission, NIC and the officials of the food and supply department. CM  Kejriwal has always stressed on the importance of creating a system that is efficient for the early resolution of the consumer disputes in Delhi. To fulfill this objective I would like to request the presidents of the State Disputes Commission to keep working on resolving the consumer complaints at the earliest. On behalf of the DSCDRC, I want to assure you that we will do everything to provide convenience to the public and resolve consumer complaints at the earliest."
