Now, BJP dares Kejri to act on Dikshit regime graft

Daring Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to act against the Ministers of previous Congress Government for rampant corruption, the Delhi BJP on Friday came out with a bulk of documentary evidence indicting the Congress leaders. The BJP will submit the documents with the lieutenant-Governor of Delhi on January 23 and demand registration of FIR against them.

The BJP cited the Shunglu Committee report on corruption charges related to Commonwealth Games, the reports by the CAG, the CVC and several other social organisations and media reports over the issue. The BJP has formed a committee headed by senior lawyer Pinki Anand to collect evidence against corruption in CWG. The development comes in wake of the Chief Minister asking the BJP to produce evidence on corruption.

Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said the BJP would not allow Kejriwal and his Government go scot-free over the issue of corruption. He alleged that despite all documentary evidence available, Kejriwal had deliberately turned a blind eye just to shield the Congress and its Ministers who indulged in the loot of public wealth. “The CAG report, Shunglu Committee report and even the findings of the CVC have indicted the previous Sheila Dikshit Government for corruption in conduct of the Commonwealth Games.  Apart from this, Kejriwal had himself handed over 700-page evidence to Delhi Police seeking an FIR against former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and her Ministers. He is now feigning ignorance after coming to power which clearly exposes the unholy nexus he has entered into with the Congress,” Goel alleged.

“The Delhi Government’s share of the CWG Bill was a massive Rs 16,560 crore on eight city projects. Both the Shunglu Committee and the CAG have reached the same conclusion after investigating the matter that the Delhi Government had wasted money by creating an artificial crisis of deadlines. This crisis was created by delaying the start of CWG-related projects almost till the very end,” the BJP president added.

Former Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta too alleged rampant corruption in at least six key Commonwealth Games projects; work for which continued for over three years after the Games. These included the Connaught Place redevelopment project and the renovation of Shivaji Stadium, among others. During the Press conference, Pinki Anand said the law permits registration of FIR against the accused persons as there is prima facie evidence available.
