Kejriwal meets Bassi, demands Dagar’s arrest
Amidst heightened political activity, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday met the Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi regarding the bribe that Delhi BJP vice president Sher Singh Dagar had offered to AAP MlA from Sangam Vihar, Dinesh Mohania. During his meet with Bassi, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal demanded a case to be registered against Dagar for trying to lure Mohania while, the Commissioner forwarded the complaint to the Crime Branch.
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay tried to turn the tables on AAP convener Kejriwal as the party’s second-in-command, Manish Sisodia, sought to defend the party MlAs availing Government facilities. Upadhyay slammed AAP for “misleading Delhiites” and “disregarding Constitutional values.”
The delegation of AAP, led by party chief Kejriwal, met Bassi and demanded arrest of Dagar for purportedly offering bribe to AAP MlA in a ‘sting’. In a letter written to Bassi, Mohania, who was allegedly offered bribe of Rs 4 crore by Dagar, had demanded an FIR to be filed in the case and also demanded to conduct a thorough investigation in the matter. Kejriwal demanded a thorough probe and the “high command” in the alleged video be identified.
On the other hand, Upadhyay lashed out at the AAP and said, “The frustration of AAP has come out in open. Kejriwal has been disregarding all the Constitutional values with his egotist behaviour.” He said the party’s MlAs are enjoying Government posts and are using official cars despite pledging they would forgo all the facilities which a legislator enjoys.
“AAP had distributed an affidavit before the Assembly elections to the effect that the party candidates will not avail the facilities of bungalows, vehicles and so on even after forming the Government. But, AAP leader Manish Sisodia told a TV channel on Wednesday that what is the harm in getting a bungalow or a vehicleIJ The people now wonder how and when this anarchy will come to an end,” Upadhyay alleged in a statement.
Meanwhile, on the day when AAP carried out Dagar’s sting, legislator Mohania had also shot a letter to the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court saying if the saffron party offered him bribe, he will accept it to “expose their dirty tricks.” The letter written by AAP legislator Mohania on September 7 also said if he accepted bribe from Dagar then he should not be considered as criminal as he was doing so to blow the whistle on “dirty tricks” of the BJP.
Besides, the party also submitted a copy of the video CD and the transcript of the sting operation to President Pranab Mukherjee. In his letter to the President, Kejriwal appealed to Mukherjee to order immediate dissolution of the Delhi Assembly to prevent subversion of the Constitution by the BJP. He was also apprised of the attempts going on to form a Government in Delhi through all possible illegal means.
