Elections for the post of Mayor and Deputy Mayor in the North Delhi Municipal Corporation will be held on April 8.
As per the election schedule, “Nominations for the two posts can be filed till April 1 in the office of municipal secretary of the respective corporation. Names can be withdrawn any time before commencement of the elections for the respective post”. BJP is likely to romp home comfortably as the party has enough numbers to elect a Mayor and Deputy Mayor. In a statement North Corporation said that according to provisions under Sub-Section (1) of Section 35 of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957, the Corporation shall at its first meeting in each year elect one of its members to be the Mayor and another member to be the Deputy Mayor of the Corporation.
