With the Formula One Grand Prix due this month, Noida Police is taking no chances regarding security arrangements and has decided to turn the district into a fortress. Security measures in Gautam Buddh Nagar district are being tightened as Greater Noida is playing host to the race for a third time. Noida Police has decided to demand around 1,500 personnel from other districts for the upcoming event.

A senior police official of Noida Police said that security arrangements will be categorised for VIPs and VVIPs. The Civil Police, Provisional Armed Constabulary (PAC) and trained personnel will be deployed to avoid any mishap during the event. The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and crowd control teams will be operational and barricades will be placed in selective areas.

According to plan, Federation Internationale de I’Automobile (FIA) will provide internal security while external security will be provided by Noida Police, which will include  anti-sabotage check teams, bomb disposal squads, traffic management and other specialised units. This apart, installation of CCTV cameras along the Buddh International Circuit and other necessary arrangements will also be made in time for the racing event to be held between October 25 and October 27.

Preetinder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Gautam Buddh Nagar district, said that meetings are being held to improve and review security arrangements for the world-class sporting event. “We have been preparing ourselves to successfully conduct the event in the third consecutive year in Greater Noida and all necessary steps will be taken in this regard. A blueprint of security deployment will be drawn up initially,” said the SSP.
