Noida jinx keeps top netas away

All the big guns of political parties are shunning Noida as the jinx continues. Many Chief Ministers who visited Noida lost their chairs and this has made not only the CMs but also the top leadership of all the political parties to avoid a visit to Gautam Buddha Nagar parliamentary constituency.

Bahadur Singh, Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Kalyan Singh, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati — former CMs of Uttar Pradesh — had either lost their elections or their chairs soon after visiting the city.

The leaders have been addressing the rallies in border areas of Ghaziabad, Aligarh and Bulandshar by avoiding the area. The superstition is so dominant that the pleadings of the candidates and their supporters have fallen on deaf years and none of the bigwigs have visited this important city adjoining the national Capital.

local leaders of all political parties claim that they have tried hard to convince their top brass in Noida for campaign but not a single leader accepted the proposal. The leaders are coming in adjoining constituencies, talking much about Gautam Budh Nagar but are reluctant to come here due to fear of losing the elections.

“The district unit had written a letter in this regard to the central unit but it was said that the leaders will hold rallies at border areas of neighbouring constituencies instead of Noida,” said a senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

This week alone, Congress vice-president, Rahul Gandhi and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, have addressed people in Ghaziabad while rallies of the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal and BSP Supremo Mayawati are expected to be held in the coming days.
