Noida, Gzb scribes protest attack on TV journalist

SP Singh

The scribes of Noida and Ghaziabad protested against the deadly attack on television journalist Anuj Chaudhary. Over 200 of them took out a procession from Anuj's residence to the office of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) where they also staged a dharna. The journalists have also sought appointment with the Union Home Minister Raj Nath Singh on Friday.  Meanwhile the journalists are continuing with their dharna outside SSP office.

They demanded the suspension of Station House Officer (SHO) of Kavi Nagar, Samarjit Singh over alleged laxity in dealing with case and also demanded that adequate security should be provided to the members of family, complainant and witnesses in the case.

The SSP Vaibhav Krishna agreed on to provide security to the family, complainant and witness Deepak Tomar who is also a journalist and brother in law of victim Anuj Chaudhary.  But he allegedly refused to suspend the SHO.

The SSP tried to convince the journalists allegedly saying that that on the complaints of Anuj Chaudhary, the suspects were bound down. But journalists argued that the preventive measures taken by the SHO were “insufficient” and the crime occurred despite two complaints. They alleged that SHO had been in touch of all sorts of anti social elements and hence his integrity is “doubtful.

Four to five assailants shot at the scribe of Sahara Samay who is also president of scribe's association. Assailants allegedly fired six shots from their pistols. Two bullets passed through the abdomen of Anuj while two bullets hit him in his right arm. The assailants left the spot immediately after shoot out. “Police teams are on the job and there are certain leads” said SSP Vaibhav Krishna.
