Special Cell on Monday sought to dispel the notion Ammar Yasir and Muhammad Wahid the two persons, residing at Shaheen Bagh were brought for questioning with ulterior motives.

They were taken away for questioning in connection with the arrest of Zia-ur-Rahman, alias Waqas and three other IM operatives. It has been clarified that Yasir was the roommate of one Mohammad Waqar Azhar whose search led to the recovery of explosives. Since Wahid was also staying with them, he was also brought for questioning. They were allowed to go as their questioning revealed that they were not aware about the plans and the explosive that was stored in the house.

The Delhi Police had picked up two youths from South-East Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area to question them regarding the four arrested terrorists. This action by the Delhi Police had sparked a sense of disappointment among the locals who claimed that the move was politically motivated and hitting at their community.

Senior police officials of the Special Cell justified their stand and said that that it was Waqar’s room from where maximum quantity of explosives along with circuits was recovered. Preliminary investigation revealed that Yasir and Waqar were flatmates.

“The maximum amount of recovery was made from Waqar’s room and since Yasir was his flatmate we questioned him if he had any clue about any such activities as they both resided in the same flat,” said a senior police official. After Yasir left from Jaipur, he came to his friend’s house Wahid in Shaheen Bagh area. Police officials picked them up on mere suspicion to cross-check if they had any clue about such activities. During interrogation nothing substantial was established and both of them were let off after hours of questioning.
