This is the first time in history of Delhi Assembly, first four days of the session would be held without Question Hours. This means there would be no question hours on June 23, 24, 25 and 26. The reason is that the Government has failed to intimate the Assembly Secretariat about holding session. At least 12 days prior notice is compulsory for Assembly Secretariat to ask MlAs to put their questions for question hours.
“This is a regular and important session having no Question Hours for the first four days. This has happened first time in the history of Delhi legislative Assembly. We had never allowed the Government to call session without Question Hours.
This is the only forum where elected representatives raise their voice and problems of people of Delhi. It’s emergency like situation in Delhi. This is the forum where MlAs fix accountability of officials or Government employees,” said former Delhi Assembly secretary SK Sharma, adding that erstwhile Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had tried to convene a session without Question Hours in 2003 but the Assembly Secretariat and then Speaker Choudhury Prem Singh forced the Government give prior notice of 15 days to convene the session so that MlAs could raise their voices or problems of their constituency in the House.
