No power can stop AAP from winning MCD polls: CM

Staff Reporter

Led by  Delhi Chief Minister   Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday turned the last leg of its MCD election campaign into an impressive  show of strength.

After conducting a door-to-door campaign on Tuesday, Kejriwal took out a massive road show on Wednesday and addressed a Jansabha after that.  The road show began from Malka Ganj Chowk near Kamla Nagar and went to Ghanta Ghar Chowk with the entire stretch engulfed in hues of blue, yellow and white.

Addressing the jansabha, Kejriwal , “No power can stop AAP from winning MCD elections, because  people of Delhi will vote for the party that wants to work and not for the party that wants to stop all the work,” he said , adding, “ These people (BJP) stopped the Mohalla Clinic and CCTV project files,. I faced great difficulties in getting the projects cleared.”

He said  Delhi LG VK Saxena stopped free yoga classes, but now classes are being run on donations . “ I won’t let a single project stop in Delhi,: he said.

Charging the BJP-led MCD of turning the national capital into a garbage heap, he said , “ It pains my heart to see Delhi be engulfed by garbage. Despite being the CM I have no power to clean garbage because MCD is under BJP.

Delhiites gave us the responsibility of schools, hospitals, electricity, water, we fixed everything and provided free healthcare and electricity to everyone.

Public gave BJP one job, they had to look after the garbage but even in 15 years they could not clean Delhi. BJP has deployed 7 CMs, 1 Dy CM and  17 Cabinet Ministers to fight against an Aam Aadmi like me. Had they done some work in the last 15 years, BJP would not need to bring all its bigwigs from across the country in a municipal election,” he said.

The Chief minister said when the public wanted to know the what the BJP has done in its  15-year-long MCD tenure, Home Minister Amit Shah said  Kejriwal did not give us any funds to carry out development work. “ Look at his audacity. The  Home Minister is asking for funds from a state government. We gave 1 lac crores to the MCD, but BJP turned all of it into dust.

Despite getting all the funds their leaders cry, yell and howl on the streets of Delhi asking for money. The Centre doesn’t give Delhi Government any funds, you don’t see me begging like them.”

Gave us the job of fixing schools and hospitals, the result is front of you; now give us the chance to fix garbage management,.” said   Kejriwal

Kejriwal  said the MCD poll is not about any political party but about the prestige and progress of Delhi. “ These people have turned Delhi into such a herbage dump  that it is now difficult for a common man to live here.

You gave us the job of fixing schools, hospitals, electricity, water and governance, you have the results in front of you. World class schools, hospitals, Mohalla Clinics, free electricity-water, faceless and  doorstep services. But garbage management is under the MCD. We have to come together and solve this garbage problem,” he said..

He went on to add, "It pains my heart to see Delhi be engulfed by garbage. Despite being the CM, I have no power to clean this garbage because of the division of powers.

It has been 15 years since they have been running the MCD, yet they failed at handling garbage. If you let us run the MCD, then we will be able to clear out the garbage very easily. Give me 5 years in MCD, we will give you a sparkling clean Delhi.”

Reaching out to  the MCD employees, Kejriwal said their  salary will come into their  accounts in the first week of the month from now, no matter how he did  it. “I will arrange the funds and make it possible.” he said.
