In consonance with the spirit of “Digital India”, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) has digitally approved 3,340 'building plans' online within a span of 20 days without applicants being required to make any round to its office for the approval.
The NMC which claims standing true to its motto of "Ease of Doing Business" has also issued 71 occupancy certificates in last two years with about 54 occupancy certificates under process. However, approving 3,340 online building plans in an average of 20 days is perceived as major step towards facilitating the approval process for applicants making its less cumbersome for them and bringing in more "transparency".
NMC Mayor Adesh Gupta asserted that the whole process was made much more convenient for the applicants as they don’t have to make rounds of offices for getting the approval done.
"There is no requirement of any physical touch point between the applicant and the Department. All the alerts or change in statuses are intimated to the applicant/architects through SMS and e-mails, and digitally signed certificates/completion plans could be downloaded without the need to visit any NMC office,” said Gupta.
He further appealed the owners, who have occupied the buildings without getting the completion certificate, to apply for the same at the NMC website. Informing that no inspection is carried out by the Corporation for residential buildings measuring from 105 square metre. As for these buildings, the completion certificate is issued based on the inspection carried out by the architect/engineer.
Under the initiative of 'Ease of Doing Business', NMC has categorized many reforms under single window clearance which includes applications to be submitted online, building permits and completion certificated are issued online deemed approval of No Objection Certificate (NOC) in 15 days and deemed sanction of building plan in 30 days among other measures.
