Around 24-hours after a 45-year-old businessman purportedly murdered his 12-year-old son and 43-year-old wife and hanged himself at their residence in Outer Delhi’s Nihal Vihar area, senior police officials of the Outer district on Wednesday said they are still

clueless about the exact sequence of events.

On Tuesday morning, elder son of Vinod Punia, found his father hanging from a ceiling fan in one room and his mother Sujata and brother Prince bleeding profusely in another room in laxmi Park area of Nihal Vihar.

The senior police officer said, “ We have handed over the bodies of the victims to their families and they have returned to their native place in Rajasthan. We have sent the viscera samples of the victims. A team from the Forensics Science laboratory was called on Tuesday to lift circumstantial evidence.”

Police said they are questioning the relatives of Vinod Punia, the businessman who stabbed his wife and son and also butchered them with baseball bats.

Vinod Punia, who used to own a aluminium products manufacturing business had left behind a one page suicide note. As per the statement of his eldest son Nitin (22), Vinod was under depression for the past seven years and was also undergoing treatment.

As per the statement of Nitin, he had dinner with his parents and brother on the second floor of his house after which he went over to his uncle’s house.

“We are also questioning the locals. It appears that the deceased must have raised voice yet so far, the neighbours had stated that they did not hear their voices. We are also probing the allegations levelled by the deceased’s family about the role of a fourth person behind the double murder and suicide.

Probe is on,” added the senior police officer.
