The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Wednesday clarified that the land given to Delhi State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for  its office space does not belong to it and was not allotted by the authority.

The 809 square meters plot is owned by the land and Development wing of the Union Ministry of Urban Development.

On Tuesday, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia  accused lt Governor Najeeb Jung for allotting a land at Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Marg for Delhi BJP office which was earlier identified for a Government school.

In an official release issued on Wednesday, the DDA said, “DDA has changed land use for hundreds of acres for education and health in Delhi on the request of user agencies hence fourth there is no violation of land laws.

“DDA allots additional land of over 32 acres for education and health to the Government of National Capital Territory Delhi (GNCTD) and taking some policy initiatives to support in social sectors,” said a senior official. DDA official further said the site which is mentioned in the letter, belonged to the land and Development office (l & DO) and not the DDA.

“The l & DO has already allotted the land to BJP (Delhi Pradesh) on November 27, 2014, and the site was handed over by it to BJP on December 5, 2014.... Now, the land falls under the jurisdiction of New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), DDA had processed only the change of land on the request of l & DO for inviting the public suggestions in accordance with the DDA Act and the agenda item was circulated well in advance to all the elected members of authority, which also included Aam Aadmi Party elected members,” said a senior official, DDA.

Sisodia, who is also Education Minister showed his displeasure on the move of the l-G and said DDA has several proposals pertaining to education are pending for years.
