New traffic diversion plan at Mohan Nagar from Dec14

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and the traffic police have decided to implement the new traffic diversion plan at busy Mohan Nagar crossing from December 14.

The plan is being implemented to pave way for Mohan Nagar metro station which is being built by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Dilshad Garden — New Bus Stand metro extension.

According to GDA officials, the traffic from Ghaziabad to Delhi via link Road would continue as it is streaming. But, the traffic coming from Delhi via link Road would have to take a right turn and would return from Rajendra Nagar to Hindon Air Force Station and would join via Karhera with two options either to go Karhera Bridge or exceed to tax barrier at GT road.

The traffic from Ghaziabad to Gyani border would continue to ply straight but on return it had to adopt via Hindon Air Force station. The traffic from loni side would enter from Karan Gate police post into Rajendra Nagar and proceed either to Dilshad Garden or towards Ghaziabad via Katori Mill and Hindon Air Force station.

loni commuters to Ghaziabad would have two options   either straight via Hindon Air Force station or via Rajendra Nagar Katori Mill and again Hindon Air Force station. The commuter from Dilshad garden would have the direct access but had to divert from Katori Mill towards Hindon Air Force station.

Since the traffic diversion in the past proved problematic, the authority had strengthened the side roads and made them capable to bear the heavy traffic during diversion. This diversion is mandatory to pave the way for the Mohan Nagar metro station which is the major junction of the city where new links would be connected to this place, added the GDA officer on special duty DP Singh.
