A 21-year-old woman was allegedly attacked by her neighbour at her residence in West Delhi’s Ranhola area on Saturday evening. The accused allegedly came to her house with the intention to rape her. When she resisted, he hit her with a knife, which disfigured the left side of her face.
The accused later decamped with cash and valuables worth `30,000. The woman’s husband was off to the office while her two children — a two-year-old and one-month-old infant — were found lying next to her.
The victim has been admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhayay (DDU) Hospital and she has reportedly suffered about 10 multiple fractures to her face and skull.
Police said that the incident came to light when the victim was found naked by her husband, who works as a contractor for a construction company, when he came back from work.
“He found that the entrance door was ajar and his wife was lying naked in bed, in a pool of blood. A bloody sickle was lying to her side,” the officer added. He called the PCR and she is presently said to be critical. The victim had returned to Delhi from Jhansi around 25 days back.
