Upping ante against the BJP and the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Monday launched a scathing attack on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Replying to the allegations by the Congress and the BJP over his resignation, the former Chief Minister said that it required a “lot of guts” to give up the post.
He said that he “did not flee” his responsibilities by resigning as Chief Minister of Delhi after 49 days. Surrendering the post of Chief Minister required a “lot of guts”. “Both the BJP and the Congress leaders have no guts. I have the guts to renounce the power,” said Kejriwal. He also accused the BJP and the Congress of pressurising the lt-Governor to defer Assembly polls in Delhi and said both the parties were “scared” of elections.
“If elections are held tomorrow, the AAP will get 50 seats. They (BJP and Congress) pressurised the l-G and deferred the elections. Why are they scared of electionsIJ We went to the Supreme Court seeking dissolution of the House and asked for fresh polls,” Kejriwal said at a rally in Dwarka in support of AAP candidate for West Delhi Jarnail Singh. He added that AAP is fighting the “shanenshahs” (emperors) that are up for election from the two behemoths of the Congress (Rahul) and the BJP (Modi).
“Defeating both Modi and Gandhi is necessary for controlling price rise in the country. Once these two leaders are defeated, Rahul Gandhi in Amethi and Modi in Varanasi, both Congress and NDA will fall apart. The BJP talks about stability but we want control of price rise to provide immediate relief to the people of the country. If the BJP or Narendra Modi voted to power, the price rise will soared up and it is you (people) to decide whether you want to control price rise or not,” said Kejriwal while addressing his first public rally at Dwarka in West Delhi.
The AAP convener also claimed that the AAP was the only Government in the country which has fulfilled its all promises in his 49-day rules in Delhi while on the other hand, the BJP Governments in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh were remained busy in enjoying the powers and did not do anything in the first 49 days of their rule.
He claimed that the AAP Government has provided 50 per cent subsidy on electricity bills, 667-litre free water to every household, scrapped FDI in retail, created SIT to probe Sikh Riots, auditing of discoms. “In the Delhi Assembly, both these parties did not allow his Government to pass Jan lokpal Bill, Swaraj Bill, Bill to provide subsidy to those participated in the Bijli Andolan and not allowing the AAP to run the Government. His decision to exit the Chief Minister’s office was in retaliation to collusion between the BJP and Congress in the Delhi Assembly,” he said.
