Motorists using the automated parking facilities in New Delhi areas will no longer have to grapple for change money. The New Delhi Municipal Council has started a common prepaid card facility in such parking slots with lifetime validity. The NDMC in collaboration with DlF has started the prepaid card facility in the multi-level parking lots. The prepaid card system has started in the Multi-level Car Parking (MlCP) at “Capitol Point” and “South Square”.

The card is similar to the smart card model which is widely used for the Delhi Metro which comes with lifetime validity and the minimum recharge amount in this card will be of Rs 500. The prepaid cards are available at the customer lounge (Retrieval room) in both the MlCPs.

According to officials, to avail one such card, a customer will have to pay a refundable amount of Rs 100 as a security deposit. Moreover, a 10 per cent discount will be given to the customers on the prevailing parking tariffs.

“There are well slated plans in our pipeline with regard to value added services to be introduced at the MlCPs soon. ‘Prepaid Card’ as one of them would be very economically feasible for our patrons and as well as for us to administrate the parking bays well during huge turnouts. And, with the post-budget declaration of hike with service taxes for parking spaces this initiative indeed would be of great help for our valued patrons,” said Benu Sehgal, vice-president , DlF place Saket.

“South Square” offers shopping with over 100 retail shops and restaurants on ground and first floor, from the second to eighth floors are dedicated for car park for 824 vehicles. As for the “Capitol point” the ground and first floor would have a total of 28 commercial units, second floor to ninth floors are dedicated to car park for 1,408 vehicles.
