In its bid to achieve the target for making National Capital ‘a smart city’, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is going to install multimedia facade lights on its buildings on the lines of such lights in foreign countries. These lights will make the buildings visible even during dark nights. With the installation of these multimedia facade lights, NDMC will become first ever Government body in India, which will glitter during night.

The council officials are planning to add the same lights on other skyscrapers and tall buildings in the Connaught Place area once the scheme becomes successful.

For this new innovative idea, NDMC is likely to float the tender in this week itself. “The idea behind this is to enhance the beauty of the national Capital which has many tall buildings,” said the senior official of NDMC.

“The Council’s building will be the first Government body to have the multimedia facade lights,” said the official. These multimedia facade lights can be seen on the building of United States, london, Singapore, Hong Kong, added the official.

Since the whole process of enhancing façade lights is a big investment, the officials are seeking the ideas and opinion of national and international companies which are coming up with the detailed blueprint. “It is about `4 to `5 crore investment, therefore we are looking into every aspect of this project for the optimum result,” said the official. The implementation of the work is going to start from the September-end, added the official.
