SR

Two persons were found dead under highly mysterious circumstances on National Highway-8 in South Delhi's Mahilpalpur area on Monday morning. Their helmets and bags were found lying close to them but police said the motorcycle which they were riding was not found on the spot.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, south district, Chinmoy Biswal, said the deceased persons have been identified as Devender lama, 28, and Milan Rana, 20.

"While lama worked at Oberoi Farms in neighbouring  Gurugram, Milan Rana did a part-time job to earn a living. It has been revealed that on Saturday afternoon both of them went to Hardwar on motorcycle and were returning on Sunday night. It suggests that they had been hit by some vehicle on the way back on NH-8. We are investigating the matter to ascertain the exact cause of their death," said the Additional DCP.

Police said they are scanning the nearby CCTV cameras for the footage of the accident. A PCR call regarding the incident was received at 7:29 am on Monday. "lama was a resident of Durga Vihar in south-east district's Devli Gaon in Sangam Vihar and Rana was a resident of Bijwasan in Palam. Both had injury marks on their bodies. We could not identify Milan Rana initially but later did. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem," said the police officer.

Police has registered a case under Section 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC at the Vasant Kunj (North) Police Station on Daily Diary (DD) entry.
