The Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi of the Delhi Government and YuWaah, a UNICEF- initiated multi-stakeholder global platform, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to work together on initiatives to empower the youth with skills and job opportunities, starting with the strengthening of Rozgaar Bazaar portal that was launched in July this year.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “This partnership has risen from political will and is an opportunity to help the youth live a meaningful and productive life which contributes to the society and the nation.”
“The two biggest challenges that the country is facing right now is joblessness and COVID19. While the world waits for the COVID19 vaccine, the problem of joblessness is not going to be solved by a simple vaccine,” Sisodia said.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “To address this, we need to come together through concentrated efforts, such as the collaboration we have signed between the Delhi Government and YuWaah. I look forward to an impactful collaboration and leveraging the expertise of YuWaah and UNICEF towards making the Rozgaar Portal a truly robust one-stop solution for young people looking for jobs.”
The deputy chief minister further said this at the MoU signing at the Delhi Secretariat, and added that through such new initiatives, the government is constantly working on finding solutions to unemployment to provide better for the youth of the city.
The MoU was signed by Jasmine Shah, Vice Chairperson, Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi and Dr Yasmin Ali Haque, UNICEF India Representative, in the presence of Manish Sisodia.
UNICEF/YUWaah will also look at supporting Delhi Government’s ‘Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum’. The two will jointly organise live entrepreneur interactions, support efforts on apprenticeship opportunities, and work together on the career guidance portal for students in classes from class nine to 12, along with potential to engage in supporting the Skills and Entrepreneurship University in Delhi.
