“In its pilot project, the DJB has successfully run a trial of its first WWTP at Keshopur,” an official informed, adding that, the water samples conform to potable water standard as per the WHO norms with a treatment capacity of 66Kl/day.

The other decentralised WWTP is setting up at Varunalaya Phase I, with its construction is under progress, said DJB official and added that, the treated effluent will be used for horticultural purposes. Also, WWTP will be constructed Balmiki Colony.

The treated effluent from WWTPs at Aaya Nagar, Zafarpur and Mitraon will be used to recharge water bodies, said an official and added that this will help improve the groundwater level, which can be used to meet the water demand of the residents.

DJB is also planning to set up 14 more decentralised WWTPs at Jhuljhuli , Raota, Zafarpur, Kazipur, Samaspur Khalsa, Khera Dabar, Pandwala, Shikarpur, Badusarai, Tajpur, Goyala Vihar, Tikri Kalan, Mitraon, Dichaon Kalan.
