Good news for parents of children seeking admission to Class VI in Delhi Government schools as they don’t have to stand in queues outside these schools.

Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday directed the department to send principals and teachers of Delhi Government schools to MCDs-run schools and handover admission slips between March 15 and April 1 2017 for Class VI to children studying in Class V, during the current academic session.

“With this decision, the Government has done away with the prevalent practice wherein children passing class V from MCD feeder schools had to approach link schools for admission in class VI and their parents had to run from pillar to post for getting the admission procedure completed,” said the official. Now, the entire admission process will be made online after taking data from the MCDs and admission slips will be made available to children,” he said.

The decision was taken during a meeting of Sisodia with officials of Directorate of Education and commissioners of the three MCDs. It was also decided in the meeting that on a particular day, between April 1 and 15, the children and teachers of MCDs schools will be invited to Government schools for a party.

Sisodia also asked the education officials of MCDs to organise summer camps in their schools during summer vacations and promote reading abilities of children.
