A man, who allegedly stoned to death the live-in partner of a transgender and was declared proclaimed offender in the case, was arrested on Friday from Khajuri Chowk area in northeast Delhi, police said.
"Vinod, who belonged to Giridih in Jharkhand was wanted in connection with the murder of an associate of a transgender in Karawal Nagar. A reward of `25,000 was declared on his head by the Delhi police," Joint Commissioner (crime) of police Ravindra Yadav said.
The Crime Branch was trying to nab him and a team had visited Jharkhand to gather information about him. On January 4, a tip-off was received that he would come to Khajuri Chowk to meet someone, the officer said. He was caught by a team of Crime Branch from the designated spot, said officials.
Police said Vinod allegedly worked as a pimp and had a dispute with the live-in partner, Mahender Tomar, of the transgender person.
During interrogation, he revealed that Mahender used to abuse him and his wife due to which he killed him with a sharp-edged stone at his rented accommodation in Bhagat Singh colony on July 14 last year, police said.
