In an incident which highlights the insecurity of women in the national Capital, a 13-year-old girl from Hong Kong, who is an artist, was allegedly molested by a 28-year-old man at his rented house in South Delhi’s Mahipalpur. The incident took place on August 11 and victim reported the matter immediately to police.
A senior police officer said that the accused has been identified as Gurjeet Singh, who lives at Rangpuri in Mahipalpur area in a rented flat.
The victim told police that a month ago, while she was travelling in the metro, the accused met her and said that he would help her tour around Delhi and to help her know more about Indian culture. He then took her phone number. On August 11, the accused called her to Mahipalpur to his house on the pretext of taking her to some historical places and after a while started forcefully kissing her in the lips, neck and later asked her to touch his private parts and when she opposed to all of this, she was thrashed by the accused, the police officer said.
“literally scared from this act, the girl ran out from the house and with the help of locals called police,” said the police officer.
A team of police personnel reached the spot and took the victim to the Vasant Kunj (South) Police Station where based on her complaint an FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
The victim also told police that she did not know the address of the accused but if she would be taken there, she can recognise his house, said sources, adding, a police team has been formed to nab the accused who is currently absconding.
The residence of the accused was also searched but he was not found there and neighbours said that they knew Singh but off late did not notice him around.
The police officer further said that the victim was heartbroken, as her parents had decided to live separately. They were also mulling for a divorce. She came to India with her friend and had been staying in Noida Sector-15 for the past four months.
