The Gurugram Police has arrested a 40-year-old man who allegedly killed his two minor daughters after a heated argument with his wife on Saturday night. The argument took place as the accused suspected his wife of having an extra-marital affairs.
According to police, Mukesh Yadav, hailing from Bihar's Sitamarhi district, was arrested on Saturday night from his rented accommodation in New Palam Vihar's Q-block.
Yadav had recently shifted in the area with his wife Sonam Yadav and four children (two sons and two daughters) and works as a labourer in the nearby area. His wife works as a domestic help in neighbouring houses to earn extra income.
“Yadav and his wife fought almost everyday over petty issues. On Saturday the arguments between the couple took an ugly turn and Mukesh attacked his daughters Neha (3) and Pooja (5) with a brick several times and killed them," an eyewitness said.
"My husband killed my daughters in front of me in a drunken state. When I tried to save them, he hit me with a stick. I tried hard to save my daughters but failed,” said his inconsolable wife. He often used to threaten that he will kill them, she told police.
Meanwhile, Mukesh confessed to this crime and also regretted the murder of his daughters. "My wife has an illicit affair with another man. I told her if she wanted to continue her relationship with another man, she should stay with him and take her children and after this, a heated argument started between us and in a fit of rage I killed my daughters," Mukesh said.
"We received information from the police control room around 10.30 pm on Saturday. The information was reported by the accused himself and we nabbed him from the spot.
"He was in a drunken condition during the crime. The brick used in the crime has also been recovered. We have registered an FIR under Section 302 (murder) against the accused at the Bejghera police station and further probe is underway," Station House Officer (SHO) Samshudin said.
