Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken on Friday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporation over not providing parking facility even after huge collection of conversion and parking charges from traders. He demanded that all the three corporations of Delhi (North, South and East) should explain about the utilisation of the conversion and parking charges.
Addressing a demonstration of the Delhi traders organised by the Delhi State Traders Congress at the civic centre, Ajay Maken said the three MCDs have failed to provide parking facilities even though conversion charges have been collected.
Citing apathy of the Corporation in developing proper parking facility, Maken said that the businesses have been severely affected in shopping centres and busy markets as customers who are going to shop are facing problems.
“The East Delhi Municipal Corporation had identified five sites for construction of multi-level parking, for which Rs152.26 crore were allotted but till now no project has come on track,” he said.
The Delhi State Traders' Congress demanded full refund of all the parking and conversion charges collected by the MCDs from the traders along with interest.
The traders also demanded that all the statutory notices issued in this context should also be immediately revoked.
leaders of the Opposition in the MCDs Mukesh Goel and Varyam Kaur, Delhi State Traders' Congress president Sushil Gupta, office-bearers Murli Mani, Anil Kumar Kukreja and Ajay Arora were also present on the occasion.
