A 27-year-old woman was raped by two persons in south Delhi’s Saket on Thursday afternoon. One of the accused posed as a Government official and lured her on the pretext of giving her job at the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC).
The woman made a PCR call for help at 5.30 pm, saying she had been dumped outside the Parliament Street police station. “Police took the victim to Ram Manohar lohia Hospital,” said an officer. No case has been registered yet though the victim was taken to the spot of crime.
According to the woman, she came here from Bihar a month ago, in search of a job. Returning from NDMC head office in New Delhi district, she met a man. “He was standing outside the Registrar Office at Parliament Street. He approached me and introduced himself as Verma, a senior Government official,” according to the complaint.
Verma assured her a job and they exchanged phone numbers. Police are scanning call detail records of Verma’s number. “They started talking on the phone and after a week, he asked her to come for meeting. They met in a restaurant in Connaught Place,” the officer added.
“On Wednesday evening, he called her and asked her to meet him on Thursday. He and his associate — later identified as Digamber — picked her from Punjabi Bagh and took her to a rented accommodation in Pushp Vihar on the pretext of a meeting with friends regarding the job. The complainant told the police that they offered her a drink laced with sedatives. She became unconscious and was gang-raped,” the officer added.
When she came to, they threatened the woman with dire consequences and dumped her.
