FAKE BY DEGREES: Police acted on Tomar after ‘prelim enquiry’

Delhi Police acted on Delhi law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar after completing the preliminary enquiry (PE). The Investigating officer (IO) Inspector Satender Sangwan carried out the detailed probe to find the truth behind the degrees submitted by Tomar.  Sources in Delhi Police said that it was established beyond doubt that Tomar’s degrees were forged. The PE report was submitted to the Delhi Police top brass for further directions. The lieutenant Governor was kept in the loop of the developments. Armed with crucial evidences against the Minister, the DCP South district ordered the registration of the first information report (FIR) against Tomar. The IO sent a notice to Tomar to present himself before him in the light of a case registered against him at Hauz Khas police station. Thereafter the police moved quickly and arrested Tomar and thus, ending speculation.

When asked about the grounds that led to Tomar’s arrest, a senior police officer said that they have solid evidence against the law Minister and the same will be produced in the court during seeking the custodial remand for further interrogation. Two teams were sent to verify the documents attached with the complaint to Avadh University, Faizabad and Tilka Manjhi University, Bhagalpur, Bihar.

“For us, this is purely an FIR and nothing more should be read into it,” said Special Commissioner (law & Order) Deepak Mishra. “We had even served a notice under section 160 CrPc (police officer seeking attendance of witness) to Tomar before he was arrested,” said Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat. “In the record of KS Saket Post Graduate College, Ayodhya from where the alleged B.Sc degree and marksheets were issued in the name of Tomar was not found in their college admission register,” said the officer.

Officer said the roll numbers mentioned in the B.Sc marksheets, degree were not found in the university record. “Controller of Examination of Ram Manohar lohia, Avadh University, Faizabad reported that no B.Sc degree and marksheets in the name of Tomar,” said the officer, adding the provisional certificate of llB  in the name of Tomar issued from Tilka Manjhi University, Bhagalpur, Bihar as per the university report was also found to be fake.

“The roll number mentioned in the provisional certificate of llB was found to be allotted to another student, Sanjay Kumar Chaudhary, from a different stream issued in 1999,” added the officer. Bundelkhand University has also clarified to Tilka Manjhi University, Bhagalpur, Bihar that no such migration certificate, has been issued with the relevant number to Tomar from their university, said the officer.
