LG merely passing buck over spurt of crimes: Kejriwal

Staff Reporter

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to LG VK Saxena over the spurt in crimes in Delhi and asserted that those responsible for ensuring the safety of people have no “concrete solution” and are “merely passing the buck”. “You are new to Delhi and being an outsider, it is difficult to know about the ground reality, but an alarming rise in serious crimes cannot be treated as business as usual by a Constitutional functionary,” the Chief Minister wrote in his letter. Through this letter,  Kejriwal also conveyed that he fails to understand the LG’s reluctance to admit that the law and order situation in Delhi needs to be urgently improved.

In a rebuttal, Kejriwal expressed his disappointment, stating, “Under normal circumstances, I would not have found it necessary to respond again. However, the contents of your reply have left me with no choice but to make the people of Delhi aware that those directly responsible for ensuring their safety and security have no concrete solution and are simply evading responsibility.” Kejriwal also highlighted the ease with which Saxena categorised the “extremely serious situation” concerning the safety of over twenty million residents of Delhi as a political matter.
